Job description

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a graphic designer, you will assist the creative services manager to create new or revise existing literature for product support, company advertising, customer information, and other printed or digital material that contributes to the business of Muncie Power Products. This person must be experienced and possess excellent technical skills with print and digital production knowledge, be familiar with pre-press standards, and be technically proficient with relevant software programs. Must have strong attention to detail, the ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects, the skills to work unsupervised and follow through to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

  • Design new, or revise existing, literature, catalogs, brochures, and advertisements using Adobe Creative Suite software on a MacBook
  • Routine tasks include, but are not limited to: text input and editing, grammar and spelling checks, resizing and repurposing materials, using new or pre-designed templates, importing and cropping images, creating and manipulating tables, applying style sheets, and organizing page elements in a visually appealing and intentional manner
  • Provide support to the creative services manager and other team members as needed
  • Understand and apply Muncie Power Products branding (logos, styles, fonts, colors) to both print and digital artwork to accurately reflect brand standards
  • Prepare and optimize all materials according to specifications for both print and digital formats
  • Take photographs as needed
  • Troubleshoot production issues effectively
  • Assist in organizing, archiving, and maintaining files
  • Assist with internal printing and print management tasks
  • Assist in the development of internal and external presentations
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Complete other projects as directed
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends

YOUR EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an advertising-related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of design and/or production layout experience
  • Expertise required in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro
  • Experience with Adobe Substance or other 3D software is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must be able to use a MacBook
  • Be able to learn additional programs as needed to perform job functions
  • Experience with taking basic photos (events, products, and headshots)
  • Must work well in a team
  • Ability to read and interpret general business and professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, internal clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to work in a positive, team-based atmosphere
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
