Climax Molybdenum is the world's leading producer of molybdenum and has a long, successful history of doing business safely, efficiently and responsibly. We have operated in Colorado for more than 100 years, with mining and milling operations near Leadville, Kremmling and Empire. Employees who are required to work on-site are eligible for a $1,450 monthly housing allowance, provided they meet program guidelines.

Description
Under direct supervision, duties include the process, transport and storage of sample material; and the performance of housekeeping and other general tasks in support of departmental driven functions, projects and programs.
  • Photograph core
  • Manual handling and transport of sample material (core, pulps) between processing areas and storage
  • Palletize core
  • Load and unload core boxes
  • Split and/or saw core
  • Weigh samples
  • Mark sampling intervals
  • Measure RQD, specific gravity, and point load
  • Generate/place bar codes and scan for dispatch to the lab
  • Prepare samples for analysis using appropriate techniques
  • Perform sample preparation for quality control program
  • Select Geomechanical samples (uniaxial, direct shear); wrap and mark samples; capture Geomechanical data and enter it into forms/spreadsheets/databases
  • Validation of daily drill progress including Driller's Daily Log entry and capture
  • Assist with department administrative functions and processes
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Preferred
  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least one (1) year of experience in an area or areas relevant to the assignment

  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $21.00 - $29.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
