Job description

Salary: $35/hr + Based on Experience & Fit

Who We Are

Alpine Tree Service is a high-growth, full-service tree care company serving residential and commercial clients across New Jersey. We operate with a focus on safety, professionalism, and execution, following ANSI standards and delivering a premium customer experience.

We are building a team of professionals-not just workers.

The Role

The Tree Climber is responsible for safe, efficient execution of tree removals and pruning operations.

This is a production role. You are expected to move with purpose, think ahead, and contribute to the overall performance of the crew-not just complete tasks.

If you need constant direction or cut corners, this role will not work.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform technical tree climbing for removals, pruning, and rigging
  • Execute all work in accordance with ANSI Z133 safety standards
  • Work in coordination with crane operators and ground crew
  • Set up and manage rigging systems efficiently
  • Maintain strong situational awareness on active job sites
  • Inspect and maintain climbing gear and equipment
  • Contribute to jobsite efficiency, organization, and cleanup
  • Communicate clearly with crew and leadership

How We Operate (Core Values in Action)

Actively Seek Knowledge

You are constantly improving your climbing, rigging, and safety knowledge.
If youre doing things the same way you did a year ago, youre falling behind.

Think Ahead to Solve Problems

You plan your climbs, anticipate cuts, and understand the next 3 moves before you make the first one.
Mistakes in this role come from poor planning-not bad luck.

Be Adaptable

Every tree, property, and job is different. You adjust quickly and keep production moving.
Rigid climbers slow down crews and create risk.

Loyalty to the Team

You show up prepared, communicate clearly, and support your crew.
No ego. No shortcuts. No leaving others exposed.

Have the Motivation to be the Best

You take pride in your work, move with urgency, and push to improve your output and skill.
Average effort is obviousand it doesnt last here.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years tree climbing experience (production experience required)
  • Valid and insurable Drivers License (required)
  • CDL strongly preferred
  • Experience with rigging and removals
  • Crane experience (preferred)
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow and execute work orders via mobile systems

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience and performance
  • Health, dental, and retirement benefits (401k with match)
  • Paid time off, holidays, and sick time
  • Company-sponsored training and certifications
  • Clear path for advancement (Crew Lead, Operator, etc.)

Bottom Line

This role is for someone who:

  • Thinks ahead and works efficiently
  • Takes ownership of safety and performance
  • Wants to become elite at their craft

This role is not for someone who:

  • Needs constant instruction
  • Cuts corners or ignores safety standards
  • Is comfortable being average
