Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Backend Focus)

Role Overview

Senior full-stack engineer to join a small, high-impact team building and expanding an enterprise platform for content creation, publishing, integrations, plugins, and AI-enabled user experiences. The selected candidate will have significant end-to-end ownership, from solution design and development through deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.

Ideal Candidate

  • Typically, 10 to 15 years of progressive software development experience.
  • Strong backend engineering experience with full-stack capability.
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting production applications.
  • Ability to independently own large features, modules, services, or pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of system design, algorithms, data structures, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Comfortable working in a small team with high visibility, autonomy, and accountability.
  • Able to learn unfamiliar frameworks and technologies quickly.

Core Technology Environment

Backend: Python

Frontend: React

Database: PostgreSQL or another relational database

Cloud: AWS or comparable cloud platform

AI Expectations

This is not an AI research or machine-learning specialist role. 

Candidates should have:

Foundational knowledge of generative AI and AI-assisted development.

Experience using or evaluating AI coding tools.

The judgment to identify incorrect, insecure, or unsuitable AI-generated code.

The ability to quickly learn and apply new AI tools in practical engineering workflows.

Key Evaluation Areas

Please prioritize candidates who can clearly explain:

A system or major feature they personally took from design to production.

A production failure they diagnosed, resolved, and prevented from recurring.

Architectural decisions involving scale, latency, reliability, or maintainability.

Relational database design, data integrity, indexing, and performance.

Their individual contributions rather than only overall team accomplishments.

Experience working with incomplete requirements and limited supervision.

 

Engagement and Interview Process

Initial contract duration: approximately six months,

Interviews will focus on scenario-based technical and production questions.

A video technical interview may be required.

A coding assessment may be used when additional validation is needed.
