Job description

Job Description:
1. GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION
Position Name: Laboratory Assistant for Gross Anatomy Dissection
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Benefitted
FTE: Less than half time
Work Hours: Up to 18 hours per week; varies each term depending on instructional needs. This position will be on campus in the anatomy lab.
Department/Division: Basic Science/College of Chiropractic
Supervisor: Associate Dean, College of Chiropractic
2. POSITION SUMMARY
Teaching assistants (TAs), including laboratory assistants, in the basic science anatomy lab assist faculty and provide cadaveric dissection support. TAs engage in the detailed preparation of human cadavers and maintenance of prosected cadavers for use in gross anatomy instruction. Dissection will be required in the following regions: head and neck; back and extremities; and thorax, abdomen, and pelvis.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the lead instructor in dissecting cadavers for prosected instruction. (80%)
- Assist with setting up gross anatomy instructional lab sessions. (10%)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the gross anatomy instructors, team lead, dean and/or associate dean. (10%)

5. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training:
  • Prior cadaveric dissection experience.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited health care program where cadaveric dissection was utilized or have a degree in clinical anatomy.
  • Prior cadaveric dissection experience aside from participation as a student in an anatomy lab course and an advanced degree in clinical anatomy preferred but not required.

Experience:
  • Practical experience in a gross anatomy lab.

Related Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
