What You'll Do
As a Medical Lab Technician, you will report to the Laboratory Manager (BMG). Examines and tests human specimens for purposes of obtaining information for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients or for providing information to others who will diagnose and treat patients.
Medical Lab Technician Job Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process patient specimens (blood, urine, and other body fluids) for laboratory testing
  • Perform and interpret lab tests across chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and urinalysis
  • Conduct EKGs, spirometry, and Holter monitoring as needed
  • Notify physicians promptly of critical lab results
  • Prepare and send specimens to reference labs

Documentation & Reporting
  • Accurately record test results and maintain patient lab records
  • Ensure proper billing documentation and diagnosis verification
  • Distribute lab reports to providers in a timely manner

Quality & Compliance
  • Follow all laboratory quality control procedures and maintain required documentation
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, regulatory standards, and organizational policies
  • Maintain up-to-date lab manuals and records

Operations & Maintenance
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshoot issues
  • Maintain lab inventory and order supplies as needed
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment

Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and required certifications
  • Maintain current licensure and CPR (BCLS) certification
  • Support team operations and assist with additional duties as assigned
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts or overtime as needed

What You Bring
As Medical Lab Technician, this position requires in-depth knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory equipment, and testing procedures to perform a full range of lab tests, conduct quality control checks, and maintain instrumentation. The ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations, while consistently following universal precautions and maintaining strict patient confidentiality. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential to build effective relationships with patients, medical staff, team members, and the public. The role also requires the ability to read, understand, and follow written protocols and technical information related to laboratory instrumentation.
Required Qualifications
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma, graduation from a technical school as a medical laboratory technician, and current ASCP, NCA, or equivalent certification.
  • One year related medical laboratory experience is preferred.
