Position Summary
We are seeking a Manual Machinist to support our aftermarket repair and upgrade business in our Cullman PRO Services shop located in Cullman, Al. Building on centuries of pump design experience, PRO Services provides an array of services focuses on reducing equipment total cost of ownership and increasing plant output, including condition monitoring, predictive maintenance contracts, field service, engineered upgrades, inventory management, and overhauls for pumps and other rotating equipment.
Essential Responsibilities
May include:
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements, may need assistance.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, vertical turret lathe, horizontal boring mill, tool post grinder, and drill press.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Installs machined replacement parts in equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality.
  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.

Position Requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client group.
  • Ability to troubleshoot in-depth issues with rotating equipment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret pump drawings.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Well-developed planning, organization, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to produce clear, timely, and concise documentation and have well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity on the job.
  • Proficient in relevant PC skills.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma
  • 7 to 10 years of experience
  • Setup and operate a variety of machine tools, such as lathes (manual), milling machines (manual), vertical turret lathe (manual) horizontal boring mill (manual) to machine precision components per specifications.
  • Applies appropriate machining processes to manufacture parts specified by work orders, blueprints, sketches or charts
