The Critical Operations, Readiness and Execution (CORE) Team provides Test Engineering expertise and support to the Transportation and Program groups across all of LM Space. As a Systems Integration & Test Engineer Staff, you will have direct involvement in the Planning, Preparation, Operational Execution, and Mission Closeout phases associated with the movement and handling of high-value, critical flight hardware assemblies/sub-assemblies. The day-to-day life of a CORE Team member can vary tremendously. One day you might be in the office, creating schedules and authoring Test Engineering procedures; the next you might be on a C5 military aircraft, escorting a satellite or missile to its launch complex. It's this task variety that offers a truly unique and exciting opportunity and encourages employees to showcase their versatility. The primary function of this specific opening will be in support of the Next Generation Interceptor program. In your immediate assignment, you'll utilize your education, experience and team skills to take on a wide range of technical challenges involving the critical operations, transportation and handling events of flight hardware taking place in Huntsville and Courtland, AL.
During the operational execution phase of a mission, the CORE Team leads flight hardware transports in a hands-on capacity at a number of sites across the United States, and on occasion, internationally. Because of this, team members can reasonably expect to be on work travel for short durations (2-7 days), approximately 8-12 times/year.
If you like working in a hands-on environment, enjoy moderate travel, and want to put your Engineering background to use in the field, we look forward to hearing from you! This position involves little oversight, day-to-day. Applicants must be outgoing self-starters, willing to actively communicate and work with program employees and customers on a regular basis. Your responsibilities within the CORE Team as a Systems Integration & Test Engineer Staff are summarized below.
Plan, implement, document, and maintain technical solutions for the integration and testing of components, sub-systems and systems
Integrate customer requirements into system test solutions that account for technical, schedule and cost constraints
Lead/Execute large-scale, multidisciplinary, critical operations involving the transportation and handling of flight hardware
