We are seeking an experienced Programmer Analyst / Senior .NET Developer to support complex web application development initiatives. This is a long-term hybrid contract opportunity based in Richmond, Virginia, requiring onsite work at least three days per week. Candidates must already permanently reside in Richmond, VA and must be available for an onsite interview.

Job Description

We are seeking a senior .NET Developer with 10 or more years of web application development experience to manage, analyze, and translate complex software requirements into high-quality application components using the .NET Core framework. The developer will design and build scalable solutions, follow programming and software design best practices, prioritize development work effectively, and prepare system documentation as required.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise and communication skills and will work closely with business and systems analysts to clarify requirements and implement effective solutions. This role participates throughout the Agile software development lifecycle and contributes to the quality, maintainability, and reliability of VDOT applications.

Responsibilities

Application Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain .NET Core web applications and backend services.
  • Develop solutions using C#, ASP.NET MVC, Web API, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, Node.js, CSS, Blazor, and related web technologies.
  • Translate complex software and business requirements into high-quality application components.
  • Apply appropriate software design patterns to maximize application reusability and maintainability.
  • Develop responsive web application functionality using JavaScript frameworks, CSS3, and HTML5.
  • Work with Oracle databases, SQL, and PL/SQL as part of application development and support activities.

Quality and Technical Standards

  • Follow established programming standards and software development best practices.
  • Write effective unit and integration tests to support high-quality software delivery.
  • Apply knowledge of system design patterns, tiered architecture, and software testing practices.
  • Support automated build processes using Microsoft Team Foundation.
  • Perform process automation and troubleshoot application and system issues.
  • Create and maintain system documentation as required.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with project business analysts and systems analysts to clarify technical and functional requirements.
  • Participate in technical and business requirements discussions.

  • 10 years of web application development experience with fluency in JavaScript and frameworks or technologies including jQuery, React, Angular, or Blazor, as well as CSS3 and HTML5.
  • 10 years of experience with automated builds using Microsoft Team Foundation.
  • 7 years of experience with Oracle SQL Server Database.
  • 7 years of experience with PL/SQL and Oracle Database.
  • 7 years of experience with process automation and troubleshooting.
  • 3 years of experience with Agile SDLC best practices.
  • Must permanently reside in Richmond, VA at the time of submission.
  • Must physically reside within the United States for the entire duration of the assignment.
  • Must agree to and be available for an onsite interview.
  • Must agree to work onsite at least three days per week, or more frequently as determined by the manager.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
