Communications Writing and Editing Intern Intern US 30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1302 Internship Type Writing and Editing Intern Duration and Time Commitment Flexible. Hours and Compensation 20-25 hours/week This is an unpaid position.

Interns will receive a stipend of $500 monthly. Must be currently enrolled in a degree program and will receive college credit to be eligible for this internship. Workplace Location: (Remote) Internship Overview Our internship program will provide an enriching and rewarding experience for students who are interested in writing, editing, communications and marketing.

The program is designed to expose students to the not-for-profit sector and to provide them with a rich learning and development experience. Assignments may vary, but specific responsibilities include schedule management of AFSP's Real Stories Blog, evaluating and editing blog article submissions, and copyediting and writing assignments which may include web copy, emails, program guides, flyers, and other materials, as well as providing additional administrative support. Students will attend weekly meetings and brainstorms, and have the opportunity to learn about the communications field, build networking skills and discuss career planning.

Eligibility Criteria Part‐time or full‐time college student (undergraduate or graduate student) Residents of the New York Tri‐State area (New York, New Jersey or Connecticut) Available to work 3 days per week; an average of 20‐30 hours (Monday – Friday) Qualifications Excellent writing, communications and interpersonal skills (basic knowledge of AP Style is a plus) Excellent computer skills and demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Demonstrated leadership and an interest in communications and marketing via coursework or extracurricular activity Interest or passion for working in the non‐profit field About the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Established in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP creates a culture that's smart about mental health by engaging in the following core strategies: Funding scientific research Educating the public about mental health and suicide prevention Advocating for public policies in mental health and suicide prevention Supporting survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide Application Requirements All interested parties are required to submit a resume, cover letter, school requirements, and one letter of recommendation (preferably from an academic advisor or professional contact).
