Job description

NewsNation is looking for a hardworking, creative, and proactive associate producers to work on a daily show on The Hill Sunday. The NewsNation Associate Producer is responsible for contributing story ideas, writing stories and segments, compiling elements to support those stories, and organizing them within an energetic and memorable way for the respective broadcasts. The position is based at the network's offices in Washington, DC or New York, NY.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Pitches story ideas
Research production topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sources
Gathers elements: video, stills, user generated content
Makes graphics requests when needed
Helps with our digital and social media accounts
Writes editorial copy
Assist in preparing and executing live correspondent hits or guest segments
Fill-in as newscast line producer when assigned
Perform other tasks as assigned by show leaders or news management
Requirements & Skills:
Three to five years' experience in national or major-market television news
BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field
Strong writing skills required
Ability to create dynamic graphic and video elements
Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people
Interact well with on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staff
Detail-oriented
Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills
Exhibit strong news judgment
Handle stress, including short deadlines
Work at a computer for extended periods of time
Must be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights, mornings and weekends/holidays
Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 (per experience)
