Overview
The Commercial Products and Infrastructure (CPI) organization is responsible for driving Microsoft Cloud & AI capacity, margin excellence and resource allocation rigor across Microsoft's portfolio. Within CPI, the Resource Investment Strategy finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving group that partners deeply with engineering leaders to ensure $20B+ resources across ~100K engineering FTEs (full-time employees) are continuously aligned to strategic engineering priorities. We are looking for someone highly motivated to join our M365 and Copilot Engineering Finance team and help shape how Microsoft invests resources in the priorities and capabilities that power our product roadmap.
As Senior Finance Manager, M365 and Copilot, you will lead financial modeling and business analysis, partner with Engineering leaders on resource allocation decisions, and own efficient financial processes that bring clarity, rigor, and speed to investment planning. As an agile systems thinker, you bring intellectual curiosity, sound judgement, a passion for leveraging AI (artificial intelligence) tools to improve insights and productivity, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity to serve as a trusted finance advisor to Engineering leaders. This role enables you to develop a CFO (Chief Financial Officer) mindset and influence leadership to drive expense management and resource allocation decisions - continuously aligning investments and costs with a prioritized engineering product roadmap and be part of the highly driven team with an emphasis on fun!

Responsibilities
  • Engineering Partnership: Provide strategic leadership to Engineering leaders to drive operating leverage through resource allocation and investment optimization by giving visibility to the current landscape, analyzing macro-level results, and applying systems thinking to identify and recommend levers to influence decision-making.
  • Resource Analysis: Build a cohesive story by incorporating business insights through resource allocation and workforce planning, as well as understanding the connection between resource allocation with the overall financial performance. Analyze results to understand performance against plan/forecast, and monitors trends and key levers to support various rhythm of the business and finance.
  • Business Health: Drive process excellence while partnering across Engineering to continuously assess portfolio health by reviewing key drivers to identify opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs. Ensure resources and investments are constantly aligned with business strategy, product engineering roadmaps, and company priorities.
  • Finance Transformation & AI Leadership: Be at the forefront of evolving FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) capabilities through the application of AI, advanced analytics, and automation. Drive the adoption of AI-enabled forecasting, scenario modeling, reporting, and decision-support solutions that improve planning accuracy, accelerate insights, reduce manual effort, and enhance the overall finance operating model. Partner across Finance, Engineering, and Data teams to scale best practices and embed AI into core business rhythms.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry.
  • Financial analysis experience is key, preferably in a high-tech company (ideally in commercial cloud services, business models and economics).
  • Driven self-starter that is capable of effectively prioritizing and operating with a high degree of ambiguity in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Proven ability to partner, build trust, communicate with, and influence executives; Ability to make the complex simple and influence through effective storytelling.
  • Ability to influence and impact without authority, operate in ambiguity, and solve difficult problems, combined with prioritizing and functioning well in a dynamic and matrixed environment.
  • Interpersonal and cross group collaboration skills, along with the ability to drive simplicity within a complex and matrix environment.
  • Proficiency combining, structuring, and mining large volumes of data from disparate sources using tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL, etc.
  • Adept Microsoft Excel user familiar with advanced functions and charting capabilities.
  • Experience with Agentic tools (i.e GitHub Copilot), semantic models, or similar enterprise data frameworks is a plus.

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
