Copilot Developer information

Why is Copilot shutting down?

As a Copilot developer, if the tool is shutting down, it may be due to company decisions, product updates, or shifts in strategic focus. Such changes can affect availability, support, or development of the software, requiring developers to adapt to new tools or platforms. Staying informed through official channels is recommended for updates related to Copilot's status.

What is a Copilot Developer?

A Copilot Developer is a software professional who specializes in integrating, customizing, or developing solutions using AI-powered coding assistants, such as GitHub Copilot. Their role often includes enhancing developer workflows by leveraging these AI tools, contributing to codebases, and ensuring that AI-generated code meets quality and security standards. They may also provide feedback to improve Copilot's suggestions and help teams adopt AI-assisted development practices. Copilot Developers often have strong programming skills and a deep understanding of how to effectively collaborate with AI tools.

What is a $900000 AI job?

A $900,000 AI job typically refers to a high-paying position in artificial intelligence, such as a senior AI researcher, machine learning engineer, or AI director, often requiring advanced skills in programming, data analysis, and deep learning. These roles may involve leading projects, developing innovative algorithms, and working with cutting-edge tools, and they usually demand extensive experience and specialized certifications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Copilot Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Copilot Developer, a strong background in software engineering, proficiency in languages such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript, and experience with AI/ML concepts are essential, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with GitHub Copilot, code editors like Visual Studio Code, and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and a collaborative mindset help developers integrate AI tools into workflows and assist end-users. These skills ensure efficient, innovative solutions and maximize the impact of AI-powered code assistance in software development environments.

What does a Copilot developer do?

A Copilot developer designs, develops, and maintains AI-powered coding assistants that help programmers write code more efficiently. They work with machine learning models, integrate APIs, and optimize the tool's performance, often using programming languages like Python and tools such as GitHub Copilot. Strong knowledge of AI, software development, and collaboration with product teams are essential for this role.

What is the difference between Copilot Developer vs AI Software Engineer?

While both roles involve AI and software development, a Copilot Developer primarily focuses on creating and improving AI coding assistants, whereas an AI Software Engineer designs and implements AI models across various applications. The roles overlap in skills but differ in their core objectives and work environments.

What are some common challenges Copilot Developers face when integrating AI-powered coding assistants into existing development workflows?

Copilot Developers often encounter challenges such as ensuring seamless integration of AI-assisted coding tools with a variety of development environments and version control systems. They must address concerns around code quality, security, and maintaining team coding standards, as AI-generated suggestions may not always align with best practices. Additionally, developers need to foster collaboration and trust within teams, encouraging effective use of Copilot without diminishing peer code reviews or knowledge sharing. Successful Copilot Developers proactively gather feedback from users and iterate on integration strategies to optimize productivity and code reliability.

What is the salary of Copilot developer?

The salary of a Copilot developer typically ranges from $80,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and company size. Job description

As Sr. .Net Developer II, you'll serve as a senior full-stack engineer and technical lead, building and modernizing enterprise applications using .NET and React while driving architecture, development standards, tooling decisions, and engineering best practices. You'll design APIs and services, integrate solutions across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and the Power Platform, lead AI-enabled modernization initiatives, establish CI/CD processes, mentor developers, conduct design and code reviews, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.

We know that you can't have great technology services without amazing people. At MetroStar, we are obsessed with our people and have led a two-decade legacy of building the best and brightest teams. Because we know our future relies on our deep understanding and relentless focus on our people, we live by our mission: A passion for our people. Value for our customers.

If you think you can see yourself delivering our mission and pursuing our goals with us, then check out the job description below!

What you'll do:

  • Serve as the trusted primary point of contact for stakeholders submitting requests, delivering a responsive, professional, and customer-first experience.
  • Review and triage incoming intake requests, assessing scope, priority, complexity, and completeness, and following up with customers to clarify objectives and gather missing information.
  • Elicit, document, and translate customer business needs into clear, well-structured requirements that delivery teams can act on.
  • Route requests behind the scenes to the appropriate solutions architects and analysts, ensuring the right resources are engaged to determine the best response, recommendation, or proposal.
  • Coordinate across solutions architects, analysts, and development teams to shepherd each request from submission through proposed solution, tracking status and removing roadblocks.
  • Communicate status, timelines, and proposed solutions back to customers in clear, non-technical language, managing expectations throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Monitor intake volume, response times, and engagement metrics; identify trends, recurring needs, and opportunities to streamline the intake-to-delivery process.
  • Help refine and continuously improve the workflow, triage criteria, and routing logic based on customer feedback and operational data.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, requirements, decisions, and outcomes to support transparency, reporting, and program governance.
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with customers and internal delivery teams, acting as an advocate for the customer while balancing program priorities.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Active Secret clearance and must be local to the DMV area with the ability to support onsite requirements in Washington, DC.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in .NET development (C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Core), including experience in a technical lead or senior engineering role.
  • Demonstrated experience making architecture and technology selection decisions for enterprise applications - and the ability to articulate the reasoning behind them.
  • Proficiency in React - including hooks, component design, state management, and building responsive UIs.
  • Experience developing server-side applications or APIs with Node.js.
  • Demonstrated use of AI-powered developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, or similar code-generation assistants in a professional setting.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform - including Power Apps (canvas and/or model-driven), Power Automate, and Power BI - with the judgment to know when low-code is and isn't the right answer.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse - including data modeling, table configuration, relationships, and security roles.
  • Experience supporting or modernizing SharePoint-backed systems, with familiarity across SharePoint Online and legacy SharePoint(2013 or newer).
  • Deep experience with MS SQL, Entity Framework, and RESTful API design and consumption.
  • Experience establishing or maturing CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows, with strong Git fundamentals for source control and collaborative development.
  • Experience leading code reviews, setting coding standards, and mentoring developers.
  • Strong understanding of application security concepts, Active Directory, and identity/access patterns in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 / Office suite - including SharePoint Online, Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and OneDrive - in a collaborative enterprise environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical recommendations to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work onsite in a federal environment (occasional Saturday hours may be required for deployment activities).

SALARY RANGE: $147,000 - $161,000

The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including:

  • The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience

  • This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:
    • Performance-based bonuses
    • Company-paid training and/or certifications
    • Referral bonuses
