Job description

Part-Time Welcome Desk Associate

Seeking a part-time welcome desk associate to greet members and visitors to our building.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Greet visitors and members and verify membership status upon check-in;
  • Process visitors through security check-in procedure;
  • Provide information regarding JCC membership, policies and procedures, program events and classes, current and upcoming activities;
  • Answer incoming calls (through switchboard) and route calls using proper phone etiquette;
  • Process financial transactions;
  • Balance end-of-shift paperwork and deposit bag;
  • Follow established procedures in the event of an emergency (ie, contacting security/EMT/Fire Department);
  • Process membership applications (ie, paperwork, payment, picture IDs);
  • Ensure membership policies and procedures are being followed.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma;
  • Minimum of 1 year customer service experience;
  • Proficient computer skills (with the ability to learn proprietary system);
  • Familiarity in processing financial transactions and maintaining cash drawer
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Professional and friendly attitude is essential;
  • Commitment to always providing excellent customer service to members, guests, visitors and co-workers;
  • Must be able to follow an emergency action plan;
  • Must be reliable and dependable in regards to attendance;
  • Must be able to process cash transactions accurately;
  • Must respect and maintain confidentiality of members' information;
  • CPR/AED and First-Aid Certified (preferred)
  • Helpful to work additional shifts when requested.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a community center. The pace of work is variable with the possibility of multiple requests occurring simultaneously. The physical demands of the position include sitting/standing for long periods of time and using computer keyboard to complete tasks.
