Coordinator Geologist Jobs (NOW HIRING)

About the Position: Serves as a Geologist supporting a wide variety of Civil Works Projects with primary responsibility for geological aspects of the District's flood risk management, environmental, and navigation projects.
This position will be located in St. Louis, MO and will allow for situational telework only. This position is NOT eligible for full-time telework.

Basic Requirement for Geologist, 1350 Series
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Minimum Qualifications GS-9:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes collecting and interpreting geologic data for use in the design of civil works structures; conducting quality assurance of construction contractor operations; preparing geologic cross-sections for use in engineering analysis and design; and conducting field surveys. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Geology, Geological Engineering, etc.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Minimum Qualifications GS-11:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes logging, analyzing, and/or coordinating geological aspects of civil works projects; performing field exploration, laboratory testing, boring log development, relief well design, rock examination or testing, data research and/or levee inspection; and coordination with others to support successful project completion. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Geology, Geological Engineering, etc.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Minimum Qualifications GS-12:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes independently analyzing subsurface conditions; completing site characterizations of difficult properties with minimal input; planning, scheduling and/or leading investigations of multiple sites; and coordinating or liaising with customers regarding assigned projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the GS-12, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement for GS-09: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Time in Grade Requirement for GS-11: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Time in Grade Requirement for GS-12: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
The full performance level (GS-12 equivalent) of the position covered by this vacancy announcement has transitioned to Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project (AcqDemo) career path NH broadband level 3. Pay range includes ($91,779-$141,880). If a selection is made at the full performance (GS-12 equivalent) level, the position will be offered as AcqDemo NH-3. If a selection is made at the career ladder GS-11 or lower, the position will remain in the General Schedule until full performance level is reached. The selectee will be notified of pay plan, level and pay in job offer.
