Cookware refers to a variety of pots, pans, and other vessels used for preparing food on a stove or in an oven. Common types include saucepans, frying pans, stockpots, and baking dishes, which can be made from materials such as stainless steel, cast iron, nonstick coatings, and ceramic. The choice of cookware can affect the cooking process, food flavor, and ease of cleaning. In a professional kitchen, cooks often work with a variety of cookware materials such as stainless steel, cast iron, and non-stick, each presenting unique challenges. For example, stainless steel pans require careful temperature control to prevent sticking, while cast iron needs regular seasoning to maintain its non-stick qualities and prevent rust.
