Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
  • Under direction, this individual is responsible for preparing and serving large quantities of food under sanitary conditions from written menus/directions while maintaining a high standard of quality, portion control and timeliness.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Prepares and properly cooks food in large quantities according to furnished production schedules and recipes.
  • Maintains food storage area and kitchen in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Stores food and defrosts meats according to prescribed sanitation techniques.
  • Assures foodstuffs are available in sufficient quantities in advance.
  • Assists in the preparation of food for special events and recreational events.

OTHER JOB DUTIES:
  • Attends required in service training.
  • Maintains logs and completes required checklists as well as other related paperwork.
  • Does related work as required.

Skills & Requirements
EDUCATION:
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the job.
  • Ability to do the mathematics necessary in formulating and changing recipes.

EXPERIENCE:
Two years of full time, paid professional experience as a cook or cooks' helper in the
preparation of a variety of foods in large quantities.
