Immediate Hiring – Chef – Continental Cuisine

Mississauga Convention Centre | Mississauga, ON
Full-Time | Permanent

Mississauga Convention Centre is hiring an experienced Chef specializing in Continental cuisine. If you are passionate about creating high-quality international dishes and have strong experience in banquet, catering, and large-scale food production, we want to hear from you.

You will be part of a busy, high-volume kitchen preparing exceptional meals for weddings, corporate events, banquets, and special functions while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and food safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of Continental dishes including appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, seafood, poultry, meat entrées, and desserts

  • Ensure consistency in taste, portion control, presentation, and overall food quality

  • Prepare food for high-volume banquets, weddings, corporate events, and catering operations

  • Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety

  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

  • Support daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment

  • Assist with inventory control, ordering, proper storage, and FIFO stock rotation

  • Minimize food waste and maintain cost-effective food production

  • Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth production and timely service

  • Ensure attractive food presentation and adherence to event specifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Chef specializing in Continental cuisine

  • Strong knowledge of Continental cooking techniques, sauces, soups, pasta, meat, poultry, and seafood preparation

  • Experience in banquet, catering, hotel, convention centre, or high-volume kitchen environments

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment

  • Food Handler Certification required

  • WHMIS Certification is an asset

  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills

  • Physically able to stand for long periods and perform kitchen-related duties
