ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF COOKS:

  • Follow selected recipes for meals to be prepared
  • Prepare meals using batch cooking techniques and ensure they are completed on time for scheduled meal times
  • Ensure all meals are prepared and served at proper temperatures
  • Ensure needed and appropriate supplies are available before the start of any cooking cycle
  • Maintain a high sanitation standard in the cooking area and clean as you go
  • Know and follow a comprehensive cleaning list
  • Use sanitizing solutions per policy
  • Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the supervisor immediately
  • Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks
  • Attend and participate in all required employee training

QUALIFICATIONS FOR COOKS:

  • Previous Cooking experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or Assisted Living Facility is required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Professional and personable with all residents, visitors, and staff
  • Must have compassion, tolerance, and understanding of residents and their families
