Job Description: Cook at Mark’s Feed Store

Position Title: Cook
Reports To: General Manager / Assistant Manager

Position Overview:

As a Cook at Mark's Feed Store, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality food items according to the restaurant’s standards. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, ensuring food is prepared timely, efficiently, and with exceptional quality to create an outstanding dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to Mark’s Feed Store recipes and specifications, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation guidelines.

  • Monitor food stock and ingredients, ensuring they are fresh and properly stored.

  • Assist with food prep, including chopping, marinating, and prepping ingredients for daily use.

  • Ensure food is cooked and served at the correct temperatures and to the correct specifications.

  • Work efficiently during peak service times, coordinating with other kitchen staff to meet guest demands.

  • Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of food.

  • Maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring all tools and machines are clean and in good working order.

  • Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries, ensuring proper inventory control.

  • Keep track of kitchen supplies and communicate with the Kitchen Manager when items need to be reordered.

  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude, working closely with servers, dishwashers, and other staff to ensure smooth restaurant operations.

Qualifications:

  • Previous cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant or kitchen environment preferred.

  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (4-8+ hours) with periodic breaks.

  • Perform repetitive motions, including frequent use of hands and arms for tasks such as chopping, stirring, carrying, and operating equipment.

  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, twisting, and reaching above eye level.

  • Capability to walk up and down stairs and use a step ladder as needed.

  • Occasional sitting, talking, and active listening as required by the role.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly as part of job duties, including but not limited to food supplies, dishware, and equipment. When handling heavier loads, employees MUST use appropriate lifting equipment and/or seek assistance from a second person. 

  • Ability to move around the kitchen quickly and efficiently.
