Job description

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Lead the Future of Senior Living in Nebraska

Nye Health Services is seeking an accomplished, strategic, and people-centered Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help lead one of Nebraska's most respected senior living organizations into its next chapter of growth.

Reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the COO will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple service lines, including skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, memory care, and home health. This executive will play a pivotal role in developing leaders, strengthening operational performance, driving financial success, and ensuring exceptional experiences for residents, families, and team members.

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact by leading a mission-driven organization committed to innovation, operational excellence, and exceptional care.

About Nye Health Services

Headquartered in Fremont, Nebraska, Nye Health Services is a family-owned senior living and healthcare organization serving more than 500 residents across multiple campuses throughout eastern Nebraska. With approximately 750 dedicated team members, Nye provides a full continuum of care, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, memory care, respite care, and home health services.

Our mission is to celebrate life by delivering exceptional service and superior value through innovative leadership in personalized care. We believe outstanding resident experiences begin with exceptional team experiences, and we've built a culture where people truly live-and work-happy.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the President and Executive Leadership Team to execute organizational strategy and achieve long-term goals.
  • Lead enterprise-wide operational initiatives that support growth, innovation, and organizational performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and operational effectiveness across the organization.

Operational Excellence

  • Provide executive oversight for multi-site operations across senior living and healthcare services.
  • Drive financial performance through census growth, labor optimization, operational efficiency, and fiscal stewardship.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, survey readiness, quality outcomes, and risk management across all service lines.

Leadership Development

  • Coach, mentor, and develop Executive Directors and operational leaders.
  • Build high-performing teams and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion Nye's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional service.

What You'll Bring

  • Ten or more years of progressive executive leadership experience in senior living, post-acute care, healthcare, home health, or another complex multi-site service organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, multi-site operations with responsibility for financial performance, growth, quality outcomes, and operational excellence.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, labor management, and strategic planning.
  • Proven ability to develop leaders, build high-performing teams, and drive organizational accountability.
  • Experience navigating regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and risk management in highly regulated environments.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and change leadership skills.
  • Current Nebraska licensure-or the ability to obtain applicable licensure-is preferred (such as Nursing Home Administrator or Assisted Living Administrator). Clinical licensure is welcomed but not required.

The Leader We're Looking For

You're an executive who enjoys spending time in operations-not just the boardroom. You know how to translate strategy into measurable results while empowering others to succeed. You build trust quickly, coach leaders through challenges, make thoughtful decisions using data, and create systems that drive sustainable performance. Most importantly, you lead with humility, integrity, accountability, and a genuine passion for serving older adults and the people who care for them.

Why Join Nye Health Services?

  • Influence the future of a growing, respected healthcare organization.
  • Partner with an experienced, tenured, collaborative Executive Leadership Team.
  • Lead meaningful initiatives that improve the lives of residents, families, and team members.
  • Build strong leaders while shaping organizational culture and long-term strategy.
  • Family-owned organization with a mission-driven culture and commitment to innovation.
  • Comprehensive executive benefits package, including generous incentive opportunity, 401(k), low-cost health insurance (many team members pay $0), tuition reimbursement, and professional development opportunities.
  • Relocation assistance will be considered for the right candidate.

Location & Travel

This position is based at Nye Health Services' corporate office in Fremont, Nebraska. Regular travel to campuses throughout eastern Nebraska is expected.

  • Full-time, on-site executive position
  • Routine travel between campuses
  • Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities
  • Periodic overnight travel
  • Availability to be responsive to off-hours calls and messages due to the 24-7 nature of operations

People Live Happy Here. People Work Happy Here.

If you're an experienced healthcare executive who is energized by developing leaders, driving organizational performance, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents and team members, we'd love to hear from you.

Nye Health Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all team members.
