Chief Operating Officer (Miami)

Future Optek

Miami, FL • On-site

Job description

Chief Operating Officer — Part-Time or Full-Time

Future Optek is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to join our business leadership team and work directly alongside the CEO.

This is a broad, hands‑on role rather than a narrowly defined corporate position. Responsibilities will shift with the company’s strategic priorities and will span both day‑to‑day execution and the larger direction of the business. The COO will help shape high‑level objectives, coordinate company priorities, and share responsibility for the company’s non‑technical, operational workload.

The role may be structured as either part‑time or full‑time. A full‑time COO should expect brief daily coordination with the CEO; a part‑time COO should expect near‑daily coordination. Between those check‑ins, we are looking for someone who can operate independently, take initiative, move work forward, and identify worthwhile opportunities or priorities without needing them to be assigned.

Background that would be especially valuable
  • Familiarity with defense procurement and pathways such as OTAs, CRADAs, BAAs, T&E activities, and SBIR/STTR programs.
  • Military experience or strong familiarity with firearms.
  • Experience in Army, Marine Corps, or Navy ground operations that can inform end‑user needs, usability, interface decisions, CONOPS, and product features.
  • An existing defense network and familiarity with quad charts, white papers, capability statements, and other standard defense communication formats.
  • The ability, once familiar with our technology, to independently prepare a CONOPS‑oriented document, technical white paper, SBIR/STTR submission, capability statement, or BLUF‑style brief.

This is primarily a business‑side role. However, an engineering or technical background—particularly experience spanning software, hardware, or complex system architectures—would be a major advantage. Technical fluency could help with understanding our capabilities, identifying additional applications, making strategic decisions, and coordinating technical work.

The strongest fit will be someone comfortable wearing the different hats that come with helping manage an early‑stage company while remaining closely aligned with the CEO on priorities and execution.

Applying
