Job description

DRS Pivotal Power, Inc. is located in Bedford, Nova Scotia. DRS Pivotal Power is a leader in the design, development and manufacture of high reliability power conversion equipment for mission critical applications supporting all branches of the military in Canada, the US and many countries abroad. All products are designed and manufactured in house by our growing team of over 100 employees. DRS Pivotal Power is part of the Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics group and has currently over 30,000 fielded units boasting a field reliability of over 99%.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Business Operations, the Planner is responsible for end-to-end planning, scheduling, and execution control for production build orders and repair and overhaul work orders. The role ensures jobs are properly scoped, kitted, sequenced, and resourced to achieve on-time delivery, cost, and quality targets in accordance with company procedures and applicable standards.

As a Production Planner, your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
  • Interface start to completion in planning and coordinating the flow from receipt of customer order (new build or RMA/overhaul returns) through ERP planning, production/repair execution, and final shipment or return to the customer
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining MRP planning to support on-time delivery for both production and repair/overhaul orders
  • Plan, release, and manage production and repair/overhaul work orders based on demand, priorities, scope, and customer need dates
  • Plan and monitor work orders on the production and repair floor; coordinate priorities, constraints, and schedule adherence with operations
  • Consolidate material demand and create purchase requisitions to support production and repair/overhaul requirements
  • Track material from requisition through receipt of goods; identify and communicate critical parts/issues
  • Re-plan and re-sequence activities due to schedule changes, material availability, capacity constraints, engineering/configuration updates, or customer priority changes
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of planning data in the ERP system
  • Coordinate configuration and engineering changes with purchasing, production/repair teams, and quality to ensure correct revisions and materials are used
  • Support timely turnaround of Non-Compliance Reports (NCRs), including planning impacts for rework/repair actions and schedule recovery where required
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned
What you require to be successful in the role:
  • Diploma/degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain/Operations Management
  • 3-7+ years planning/scheduling experience in manufacturing and/or repair/overhaul
  • Active pursuit or completion of APICS/ASCM CPIM certification is considered an asset
  • ERP/MRP system experience
  • Strong organization, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills and able to prioritize and meet work schedules
  • Knowledge of product structures, configuration control, contract terminology, and ISO procedures
  • Effective written/verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-mix environment
  • Collaborative team player with proven ability to build positive working relationships
