Job description

Honeywell International is seeking an experienced and motivated Building Management Systems (BMS) Field Service Technician to join our Building Automation team supporting customers throughout New York City, Queens, The Bronx, and Brooklyn, NY. This is a Union position (Local 3) responsible for the installation, commissioning, programming, troubleshooting, optimization, and lifecycle support of advanced Building Automation Systems (BAS) utilizing Honeywell and Tridium Niagara platforms.

In this role, you will support high-profile projects and customer sites by delivering reliable, integrated building management solutions that enhance operational efficiency, occupant comfort, energy performance, and system reliability. You will work with a variety of building systems, including HVAC controls, lighting controls, energy management, alarming, trending, and third-party system integrations in commercial facilities such as high-rise office buildings, healthcare campuses, educational institutions, and other mission-critical environments.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong experience in networked building automation systems, controls integration, system diagnostics, and customer-facing service delivery. Success in this role requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer outcomes.

You will report to the Senior Field Service Supervisor in Lake Success, NY. This position follows a 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Overtime opportunities are available after 7 hours worked on weekdays.

Honeywell provides a company vehicle, gas card, laptop, mobile phone, and all necessary tools to perform your work. A company purchasing card (P-Card) is also provided for parking expenses and approved customer material purchases.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, configure, program, and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Develop system databases, map points, and configure frontend workstations and graphics
  • Interpret and implement sequences of operation
  • Commission and start up HVAC control systems
  • Work with industry protocols including BACnet, LonWorks, and Modbus (HTML/Java experience a plus)
  • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and control drawings
  • Collaborate with internal project teams, subcontractors, and customers to ensure successful project execution

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 3+ years of experience in building automation or controls industry
  • 1+ year experience working with DDC controls, BAS architecture, and system networking
  • If not already a member, must be willing to join Union Local 3
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to Honeywell
