Job Description and Responsibilities:

Southern Controls is seeking a highly motivated Automation Applications Engineer to join our growing technical team. This position offers the opportunity to work with industry-leading automation technologies, solve complex customer challenges, and partner directly with manufacturers and end users across a wide range of industries including automotive, manufacturing, food & beverage, and material handling.

We are looking for an automation controls engineer to help with:

·         Provide pre-sales application support including product demonstrations, system architecture recommendations, and bill-of-material development.

·         Provide post-sales support including startup assistance, troubleshooting, and system optimization.

·         In Office General phone/email and on-site product technical support.

·         Product training for customers and co-workers.

·         Work with Outside Sales staff to provide input for solving applications.

 

Minimum Experience/Education Qualifications:

·         3+ years of experience in the automation/controls industry

·         Candidates should have excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and communication skills.

·         Experience with:

o    PLCs (Examples are Omron Sysmac, Rockwell ControlLogix & CompactLogix, or others)

o    HMI & SCADA Platforms

o    Motion Control & Robotics

o    Industrial Networking

o    Functional Safety Systems

o    Machine Vision & Barcode Solutions

·         Travel primarily consists of customer visits within the assigned territory. Most travel is day trips with occasional overnight travel required.
