Location: St. Louis area, on-site - Candidates must live within daily commuting distance; relocation is not available for this role. This is not a remote or hybrid role.
Summary:
The PLC Controls Engineer will assist with electrical and software design, startup, and troubleshooting of equipment. This role will also involve integrating new processes and equipment on the plant floor, along with developing and implementing software and data acquisition systems to optimize production.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the integration of new processes and equipment into the plant, including the development and implementation of software solutions from the ground up.
  • Design and implement data acquisition systems to display plant floor data in a meaningful way for production and management.
  • Work extensively with PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and robotic integration, including Control Logix, P3000, Fanuc, Ignition, PanelView, Wonderware, Cognex, and Keyence.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment on the shop floor, including automated assembly lines, CNC machines, vision systems, robotics, automated machining equipment, and plating systems.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) and electrical schematics for control systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Position Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in PLC/HMI programming.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Controls Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and staying updated with new technologies and methodologies.
  • Methodical and detail-oriented with strong multitasking skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Office-based with regular interaction on the production floor.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods, sometimes in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
