Controls Engineer - Manufacturing, Building Products


Plant located 120 miles South of Nashville - Relocation Provided

Consumer Goods, Salary $120,000-$135,000


I am currently recruiting for a Controls Engineer (Rubber, Extrusion or Plastics experience) on behalf of a Manufacturer of Building Products used for commercial facilities with over $1 Billion in sales. This role will be located at a plant location approximately 120 Miles South of Nashville, Relocation offered.


The Controls Engineer will be responsible for implementing Controls and Engineering support for production process in support of Rubber, Plastic extrusion and molding manufacturing processes. The position reports to the Sr Manager of Engineering and Maintenance and will partner with Production, Safety, Procurement and maintenance to eliminate process variations and execute cost reduction opportunities with a focus of equipment control, technology and automation upgrades and implementation.


Responsibilities include implementation of SCADA and MES system improvements, developing and supporting Allen Bradley PLC based controls systems and recommending automation upgrades as well as designing electrical systems for new equipment, including schematics, panel design, component section, etc. This role will train technical personnel on installation, programming and troubleshooting of VFDs and control systems. The Controls Engineer will develop business cases and write Capital Appropriation Requests and justifications with pay back and ROI calculations and partner with operations and maintenance teams to implement AM/PM measures to ensure equipment is well maintained.


The hiring manager is looking for 8-10 years of experience preferably within a rubber, plastics or extrusion manufacturing environment supporting both traditional industrial machinery and controls systems as well as automation projects with knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic System components. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required. The salary range is $120,000 - $135,000 and offers Full Benefits including healthcare, matching 401k, etc.
