Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Design-Build General Contractor to support and deliver complex projects across aviation, building, power, and infrastructure markets in the FL area.
Position Profile
This role is responsible for leading integrated project delivery efforts from preconstruction through execution, ensuring alignment between design and construction teams while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
The ideal candidate brings strong design-build experience, preferably within the aviation sector, along with a deep understanding of construction management, contractor coordination, and regulatory compliance. This individual will play a key leadership role in driving project success and client satisfaction. This position is a part-time role with an estimated 10 - 25 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
  • Lead design-build project delivery teams, integrating engineering, design, and construction disciplines
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and key stakeholders
  • Oversee project planning, execution, and closeout to ensure successful delivery

Design-Build Coordination
  • Facilitate collaboration between design and construction teams to optimize schedules, costs, and constructability
  • Provide constructability reviews and value engineering recommendations
  • Support development and execution of design-build proposals and contracts

Construction Oversight
  • Manage construction activities, including contractor performance, compliance, and quality assurance
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and risk factors; implement corrective measures as needed
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations

Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication
  • Participate in business development efforts, including pursuits and interviews
  • Represent the firm in industry events and professional organizations

Market Focus (Preferred)
  • Aviation: airfield, terminal, or landside infrastructure projects
  • Also applicable: vertical building projects and/or transportation, power or infrastructure programs

What We're Looking For
We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:
Education/Experience:
  • Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC) license (required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and/or engineering project delivery
  • Demonstrated experience managing design-build projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, project controls, and contract administration

Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the qualifications above, the following will result in a more competitive candidate:
  • North Carolina Contractor license (preferred, in addition to FL)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in aviation projects (airports, runways, terminals, support facilities)
  • Background spanning both design and construction environments
  • Experience within an engineering consulting or design-build firm

The hourly rate for this position is between $40.00 and $60.00 per hour based on experience, education, and/or certifications.
