Position Summary

The Project Controls Engineer supports the Project Controls and Project Management teams by assisting with cost tracking, reporting, and financial controls on large construction projects. This role works directly under the Regional Planning & Controls Director and plays a key role in maintaining accurate job cost data, supporting forecasting efforts, and ensuring timely project reporting.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in fast-paced, heavy construction environments across industries such as mission-critical, oil & gas, fabrication, and industrial services.

Key Responsibilities

Support job cost tracking, coding, and data entry within company systems

Assist in maintaining accurate project cost reports, forecasts, and budgets

Work within Vista (Viewpoint ERP) and other systems to input and validate financial data

Assist in generating productivity and LEI reports, identifying trends and discrepancies

Support project billing, invoice tracking, and cost reconciliation

Help monitor project budgets vs. actual costs and flag variances

Assist with change order tracking and documentation

Compile and prepare weekly and monthly project reports for internal and client use

Coordinate with project teams to gather cost, labor, and production data

Support project closeout activities, including cost reconciliation and final reporting

Ensure data accuracy and compliance with company processes and procedures

Assist with internal audits of project cost and reporting systems

Required Qualifications

3-5 years of experience in project cost control, accounting, or project coordination within construction or industrial environments

Experience with Vista (Viewpoint) or similar ERP systems

Proficiency in construction cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite

Strong understanding of Earned Value management best practices and KPI's

Strong understanding of Change Order Management best practices

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using PowerBI to filter and slice cost reports

Experience with Accubid / HeavyBid or similar estimating tools

Exposure to P6 (Primavera) or project scheduling tools

Certifications with AACE or PMI

Experience supporting large-scale or "heavy" construction projects

Background in industries such as electrical, oil & gas, or industrial services
