SCOPE:
The Application Engineer is responsible for managing all technical and engineering matters concerning
assigned application projects, including, if assigned, the direction and supervisor of resources. The Application Engineer is a position important to the success and growth of the company. This position will provide exemplary professional conduct, technical expertise, project management, communications and documentation. The Application Engineer will provide leadership, guidance and advice to subordinates in the applications group, and will represent the company in the marketplace, including representing the company as an extension of the customers’ technical staff.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
¨     Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or closely related discipline.
¨     Minimum 3 years’ experience in hydraulic applications.
¨     Self-starter.
¨     Professional written and verbal communication skills.
¨     Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
¨     Good understanding of HST transmission, their definition, sizing and application needs.Â
¨     Knowledge of open loop circuits, valves and controls, suited for the mobile market.
¨     Solid analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
¨     Effective and professional organizational and communication skills.
¨     Demonstrate ability to participate in decision making and make effective presentations.
¨     Ability to work alone and in teams.
¨     Attention to detail.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Application Engineering:
·               Review application or information requests for the proposed use of the company’s products in systems design. Respond to all inquiries and provide technical support, as necessary, to insure proper application of the company’s products.
·               Accurately and professionally derive and convey technical data to support sales, engineering and service of the company’s products. Conduct technical presentations, training sessions and seminars as required.
·               Diligently assist customers in system development, start-up, troubleshooting, and system modification. When practical, develop special hardware adapters, control mechanism and interfaces, as required, to address special customer requirements.
·               Develop and disseminate all necessary engineering documentation such as engineering drawings, specification sheets, model codes, bill of materials, parts drawings, change notices, parts lists, service procedures, adjustment procedures and troubleshooting guides as required.
Project Management:
·               Identify project requirements and establish a management plan to address technical issues of assigned application projects. Frequently update the plan to insure visibility and prompt responses to outstanding issues and to initiate immediate action to new issues or changes in schedules and requirements of existing items.
·               Effectively interact with assigned project customers and company’s parent. Initiate, organize, maintain, and document, clear, open and complete communication of technical issues between the company/company parent, the Regional Managers and the customers.
·               When additional resources are required within the scope of assigned projects, efficiently lead, direct and supervise assigned personnel.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Application Engineering:
·               Review potential applications for the use of the company’s products; insure application requirements and information is complete. Determine application feasibility, investigate all possibilities and develop options to address request. Formulate summary of results, including alternative solutions, and be prepared to formally present same to Management and customer.
·               Derive and disseminate technical data pertaining to company products and their application to support the company's sales network, OEM's and service. Write technical bulletins, descriptions, proposals, procedures or analysis and conduct technical presentations and training sessions.
·               Develop system concepts for the use of company products including controls. Assist customers in system design, hardware identification and configuration, start-up, troubleshooting, and system modifications. Where applicable, design special controls, adapters or interfaces to incorporate special customer requirements which would not be otherwise accommodated with standard company product.
·               Record and track all OEM application specifications; see to it that all necessary engineering drawings are made; develop precise model codes, bills of material, test specifications, assembly instructions, machine shop orders and change notices to technically and accurately define OEM products as company will ship against these specifications.
·               Develop parts lists and drawings, adjustment and service procedures, and troubleshooting guides. In conjunction with company service, and the OEM service departments, assist in determining service level or serviceability of parts. Assist in UFA and warranty decisions, if required. If requested, address technical issues as a result of persistent OEM line rejects and field failures, and assist in implementing prompt corrective action.
Project Management
·               At the outset of each project assigned, create a clear, comprehensive, written definition of the project's technical scope and requirements. Within this definition establish specific tasks, develop objectives, and a schedule of events with milestones, along with any requirements for additional resources. Finally establish methods with which to gauge the project's progress. Utilize effective project management methods to maintain control.
·               Develop and maintain, clear, open up-to-date communications between company/company parent, Regional Sales Managers and customers regarding the issues. Regularly advise status of project development and of outstanding issues to all affected parties and follow-up on all communications to insure effect and intent.
·               Identify tasks and objectives requiring additional personnel or other corporate resources. Provide ideas, options and alternatives to Management to assist in allocation. If assigned, efficiently lead, direct, and supervise personnel in identified tasks.
