Role Summary

The Senior Corporate Controller will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing corporate accounting, financial reporting, treasury, asset management, and related corporate functions. This role will play a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making across a complex multifamily real estate portfolio.

Working closely with executive management and business partners throughout the organization, the Senior Corporate Controller will lead consolidated financial reporting, oversee audits and compliance activities, manage treasury operations, and support portfolio growth initiatives. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in multifamily real estate accounting, corporate consolidations, and financial leadership within a dynamic and growing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all corporate accounting functions across a multifamily real estate portfolio, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including consolidated financial statements and ownership-level reporting.
  • Manage asset management, treasury, cash management, banking relationships, debt compliance, and liquidity planning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, HUD regulations, affordable housing program requirements, lender agreements, and investor reporting obligations.
  • Direct accounting operations for multiple entities, joint ventures, and affiliated organizations.
  • Lead annual audits, tax-related activities, regulatory examinations, HUD submissions, and external reporting requirements.
  • Partner with operations, development, asset management, and executive leadership teams to support strategic business initiatives and portfolio performance.
  • Develop and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, risk management practices, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and accounting system enhancements to support organizational growth.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop accounting professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience, including significant management responsibility.
  • Bachelor''s degree in Accounting required; Master''s degree preferred.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Controller, Corporate Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leader within the multifamily real estate industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multifamily real estate accounting, including multi-entity accounting structures and consolidated financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS consolidations, financial compliance, debt agreements, and real estate investment structures.
  • Experience with affordable housing programs, HUD reporting, tax credit properties, or other regulated housing environments highly preferred.
  • Proven success managing audits and collaborating with external auditors, lenders, attorneys, and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience with ERP platforms and property management software.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, relationship-building, and strategic business partnering skills.
