Position Summary:
DM Stevenson Ranch is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations. This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, managing cash flow, overseeing accounting staff, and providing timely financial information to ownership. In addition, this position oversees the Human Resources Manager position. The Controller is responsible for support of 3 companies (holding the above entities) including one parent real estate company, holding all related real estate. The Controller reports to the company President, Chair of DMSR Board and the Hood River Inn General Manager, partnering and supporting strategic growth, operational excellence, and long-term financial success.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced managing accounting across multiple legal entities and business types.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Financial Management
    • Direct all accounting operations for multiple business entities.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Produce consolidated financial reports for ownership.
    • Analyze operating results and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
    • Develop annual budgets and forecasts.
    • Monitor cash flow across all businesses.
    • Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Summarizing of year end activities through financial reporting and submitting related reports to supporting CPA firm in preparation of income tax returns.
    • Maintain and manage banking relationships.
      • Support lender reporting requirements and financial covenant compliance.
    • Conduct annual insurance reviews and renewals for all business lines and personnel with assistance from HR and G.M.
  • Accounting Operations
    • Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Maintain fixed asset schedules.
    • Oversee bank reconciliations and cash management.
    • Bank transfers and general banking duties
    • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures and systems related to preparing financial statements, forecasting and analyzing cash flow, in support of administrative and managerial functions.
    • Preparation of quarterly reports for Partners/Owners Meetings
    • The Controller's office is the primary contact for outside IT support, working closely to approve equipment and software proposals, upgrades, maintenance, and repair.
    • Project management required for necessary software upgrades for POS and PMS systems.

  • Hospitality & Retail Accounting
    • Monitor hotel revenue, occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and departmental profitability.
    • Review restaurant food cost, beverage cost, labor percentages, and inventory controls.
    • Oversee fuel inventory reconciliation, fuel margin reporting, lottery/tobacco accounting in addition to convenience store accounting needs.
    • Ensure daily sales reporting and cash controls are accurate.

  • Real Estate Accounting
    • Manage accounting for commercial properties.
    • Track tenant receivables and lease administration.
    • Monitor CAM reconciliations and property operating expenses.
    • Coordinate capital improvement accounting.

  • Compliance
    • Manage sales tax, lodging tax, payroll tax, fuel tax, real estate tax, and other regulatory filings.
    • Provision of agency reports for licensing & registration (OLCC, OR Sec. of State, OR Dept. of Revenue, etc.)
    • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

  • Leadership
    • Oversees Accounting and Human Resources
      • Hire, train, mentor and supervise accounting personnel.
      • Oversee Human Resources Manager position
    • Build efficient accounting processes across all business units.
    • Work closely with ownership and operations managers.
    • Participate in strategic planning and business acquisitions.
    • Assist ownership with financial modeling and investment analysis.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience with Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred.
  • Experience with payroll, sales tax, and multi-state reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Sage or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience with payroll software such as Paycom.
