Job description

We seeking an experienced and hands-on Corporate Controller to lead the company's accounting operations and financial reporting functions. This individual will oversee all corporate accounting activities, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and support the continued growth of a fast-paced utility-scale solar EPC and development company.

The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting expertise, experience managing multi-entity organizations, and thrives in a dynamic environment supporting engineering, construction, development, project finance, and executive leadership. Experience in construction, renewable energy, infrastructure, or project-based industries is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for multiple entities and subsidiaries.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and consistency across all accounting functions.
  • Produce financial reporting packages for executive leadership, lenders, and investors.
  • Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll Accounting, Fixed Assets, and Cash Management.
  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team while establishing scalable processes.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables.
  • Maintain accounting policies and procedures.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements.
  • Oversee sales and use tax, property tax, business licenses, and other regulatory filings.
  • Coordinate documentation supporting lender, investor, and tax equity reporting.

Construction & Project Accounting

  • Oversee accounting for utility-scale solar EPC projects.
  • Review project cost accounting, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition.
  • Partner with Project Controls and Operations to ensure accurate project financial reporting.
  • Support cost forecasting and margin analysis across active projects.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Monitor corporate cash flow and liquidity.
  • Assist with banking relationships and debt compliance.
  • Support project financing activities and capital transactions.

Financial Planning Support

  • Assist the CFO with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Develop KPIs and financial dashboards.
  • Analyze financial performance and recommend operational improvements.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Lead ERP optimization initiatives.
  • Improve accounting automation and reporting capabilities.
  • Develop scalable financial processes supporting company growth.

Leadership

  • Build and develop a high-performing accounting organization.
  • Establish performance expectations and career development plans.
  • Collaborate closely with Development, Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, HR, and Executive Leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 5+ years managing accounting teams.
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidations.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, EPC, construction, manufacturing, or infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of percentage-of-completion or project accounting.
  • Experience with project financing, tax equity, or joint ventures.
  • Familiarity with multi-state operations.
  • Experience supporting rapid organizational growth.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems.
