Seneca Foods Corporation is currently looking for a qualified Controller to help lead our accounting and financial functions at one of our food processing/manufacturing facilities located in Rochester, MN. The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the plant operations.

Responsible for reporting and forecasting plant spending, production, costs, and variances. Responsible for calculating facility per unit costs for all production and materials consumed in the process at the facility.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's Degreen in Accounting or Finance/Business and have demonstrated their ability to learn, grow, and lead the accounting functions in previous positions. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for the financial functions of the facility including budgeting, forecasting, costing, payroll, accounts payable and reporting.
  • Supervise all accounting activities to ensure adherence to accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining an effective internal control environment in accordance with corporate policies, procedures, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Month and year end financial closing.
  • Reporting and reviewing all costs and variances with Plant Manager and division.
  • Closing out costs on FG production and preparing true up costs.
  • Preparing financial budgets and replan budgets.
  • Daily/weekly review and reporting of plant productions.
  • Approving spending and charging to GL accounts.
  • Off-season analysis, projections, and related analyses.
  • Reconciling supply & FG inventories and overseeing physical inventories.
  • Maintaining assets and balancing values and accumulated depreciation w/ledger.
  • Effectively communicate business and plant requirements.
  • Function as a liaison between the plant and corporate accounting functions.
  • Assist corporate accounting with projects.

Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have a B.S. in Accounting or Business with an Accounting emphasis.

Microsoft proficiency is required, especially proficiency with excel.

  • Minimum of 5 years of controller experience or equivalent accounting experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Cost accountant background a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in variance analysis a plus.

ERP system experience preferably in SAP and Work Force Ready.
