Job Description ProspectBlue is partnering with a growing and well-established organization in the Toano, VA area to identify an experienced Controller to join its leadership team. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys combining day-to-day accounting leadership with financial oversight and business partnership. The Controller will lead the accounting function, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, strengthen processes and internal controls, and provide financial insight to support the organization's continued growth.

Responsibilities: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes Oversee general ledger activity, financial reporting, and supporting schedules Review bank and corporate credit card reconciliations Oversee accounts payable and vendor payment processes Oversee sales tax filings and related compliance Coordinate annual tax filings and work closely with external tax advisors Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Provide financial analysis and insight to support pricing, profitability, and business decisions Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and operational efficiencies Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, financial planning, and strategic business initiatives Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements Lead and support the accounting team while fostering a collaborative, accountable environment Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience 5+ years of experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or in a similar accounting leadership role Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Proven experience leading the month-end close process Experience overseeing AP, reconciliations, sales tax compliance, and external tax relationships Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and leadership abilities Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Preferred Qualifications: CPA designation Experience with Epicor Kinetic ERP Conversational Spanish with strong English fluency Work Environment This is an onsite, Monday-Friday position in Toano, VA.
