In a few short years, we've grown from an idea to create smart driver safety tracking to becoming a fleet management and telematics company that has successfully deployed to thousands of drivers across the country with some of the nation's top 100 fleets.
About the Role
Maven is hiring a Controller to own the day-to-day finance function and help build a strong foundation for the company's next stage of growth. This is a hands-on role for someone who can bring rigor, reliability, and visibility to our financial operations while working closely with a Fractional CFO.
We are looking for a strong finance operator who can run the core accounting and finance function today and has the potential to grow over time into a broader finance leadership role, including VP of Finance or CFO.
What You'll Do
  • Own the monthly close process and deliver accurate, timely financial statements and reporting
  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accruals, reconciliations, AP/AR oversight, payroll coordination, and cash management
  • Improve controls, audit readiness, and the reliability of finance processes
  • Support budgeting, forecast inputs, management reporting, and KPI visibility
  • Create a repeatable finance operating rhythm so leadership can rely on timely, accurate financial information
  • Provide financial data and analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and strengthen financial performance
  • Continuously improve accounting processes, workflows, and finance infrastructure
  • Partner cross-functionally with leaders across the business
What We're Looking For
  • Experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller
  • Strong accounting and finance operations foundation
  • Experience in a scaling private company; venture-backed, PE-backed, or otherwise operationally complex environments are a plus
  • Ability to operate in a hands-on environment without a large team
  • Strong process orientation, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Clear communication skills and comfort working with non-finance leaders
  • Business judgment and interest in growing into broader finance leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience
  • CPA is a plus, but not required
