Position Overview

Our partner is seeking an experienced Lead Technician capable of taking residential projects from final trim through commissioning and client handoff.

This individual will serve as the lead on assigned job sites, oversee junior technicians, deploy networks, configure integrated systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure every installation reflects the company's high standards.

The ideal candidate enjoys both the technical and physical aspects of the industry. Whether it's programming a system, deploying a network, completing a trim-out, climbing into an attic, or digging a trench when necessary, everyone contributes to the success of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead residential AV, lighting control, networking, and automation installations from final trim through project completion
  • Configure and deploy residential networks including router, switch, and Wi-Fi setup
  • Program and commission Control4, Lutron, and Crestron Home systems
  • Complete system testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance before client handoff
  • Perform customer walkthroughs and provide end-user training as needed
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients by supporting ongoing service needs
  • Mentor and train junior technicians while maintaining accountability for job site performance
  • Read project documentation, identify discrepancies, and proactively communicate potential issues
  • Install and troubleshoot residential security and intrusion systems when required
  • Assist with pre-wire, trim, rack building, camera installation, conduit work, and other field tasks as needed
  • Maintain organized work areas, company vehicles, and installation standards
  • Represent the company professionally while interacting with homeowners, builders, designers, and trade partners

Required Experience

  • Proven experience leading residential custom integration projects
  • Strong residential networking knowledge with the ability to independently deploy and troubleshoot networks
  • Experience programming and configuring:
  • Lutron HomeWorks and/or RadioRA 3
  • Control4
  • Ability to independently complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across AV, networking, lighting control, and automation systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Professional appearance with strong interpersonal skills
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to speak up when something doesn't look right

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hardwired residential security systems
  • Familiarity with Resideo, Elk, Alarm.com, or similar security platforms
  • Industry certifications from manufacturers such as Lutron, Control4, Crestron, networking vendors, or security platforms
  • Electrical or low-voltage licensing is a plus

Who Will Thrive Here

The ideal candidate:

  • Loves the custom integration industry and takes pride in their work
  • Enjoys mentoring less experienced technicians
  • Is comfortable wearing multiple hats throughout a project
  • Doesn't believe any task is beneath them
  • Can think critically without needing constant direction
  • Values teamwork over ego
  • Wants to grow alongside a company that is continuing to expand

If you're looking for a role where you'll only program systems and never climb a ladder, enter an attic, or help with installation work, this position will not be the right fit.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and work in attics and crawl spaces
  • Lift and carry equipment and materials throughout the workday
  • Perform physically demanding installation tasks including conduit work, trenching, and equipment installation when necessary
  • Work safely in residential construction environments

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly compensation
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid company holidays
  • Monthly healthcare stipend
  • Company-branded service vehicles for daily use
  • Mileage reimbursement when personal vehicle use is required
  • Company-provided corded power tools and specialty equipment
  • Opportunity to mentor junior technicians and continue advancing your technical skills
  • Potential relocation assistance for the right candidate already planning to move to South Florida
  • Overtime Opportunities

Compensation

$35.00–$45.00 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and technical capabilities.

Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • Typical workload averages 45–50 hours per week
  • Occasional out-of-state travel (less than 10%)
  • Projects primarily located throughout Fort Lauderdale to Jupiter
