Position Summary:
The Loan Quality Control Specialist II is responsible for advanced oversight of retail loan documentation, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance of both pre-closing and post-closing loan files. This role requires higher-level analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills than LQC I, as well as leadership and mentoring of junior team members. The specialist II is also responsible for identifying process improvements, managing escalations, and supporting departmental reporting and audits.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage complex loan quality control reviews, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and internal policies and regulations.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Loan Quality Control Specialist I team members, supporting skill development and process adherence.
  • Oversee exception tracking, identify trends, escalate critical issues, and recommend process improvements to minimize errors and risks.
  • Review and verify all real estate loan documentation, including title work, liens, closing disclosures, and TRID compliance.
  • Coordinate with lenders, title companies, underwriters, and other internal departments to resolve discrepancies and facilitate timely loan closings.
  • Assist in the preparation of audits, regulatory reviews, and internal reporting requirements.
  • Ensure proper organization, storage, and confidentiality of loan files, maintaining compliance with HOPE's policies and security standards.
  • Support special projects and department initiatives, including documentation process enhancements and policy updates.
  • Act as backup for department leadership in administrative or procedural matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in loan quality control, consumer lending, or a related role
  • Strong knowledge of retail mortgage processes, loan documentation, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Preferred:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with title work, UCC filings, and lien perfection
  • Familiarity with TRID, RESPA, TILA, and other real estate lending regulations
  • Experience mentoring or supervising team members
  • Proficiency in loan processing systems and document management platforms
