In alignment with Virginia pay transparency practices, the expected pay range for this position is $79,657-$107,001 per annual, based on qualifications and experience. This range is not inclusive of the full value of benefits or other total rewards offered by the company.

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Insulated Panel Group is searching for an amazing Maintenance Technician that's savvy in both mechanical and electrical. This role is in support of the coordination and execution of the NIPG Maintenance strategy which includes but is not limited to: 

  • Safely maintain and conduct preventative maintenance on all production machinery as well as on facility utilities. 
  • Support plant operations while working closely with all other departments in planning future needs and/or improvements. 
  • Drive continuous improvements in production tracking, process efficiency and plant automation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair in accordance with diagrams, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications,while showing the urgency in addressing the needs of the production and support departments.
  • Install and repair a variety of equipment such as: 480 V/120 V Electrical Systems, electric motors and contactor,control circuits, PLC systems, hydraulic systems and components, pneumatic systems and components, power transmission systems, piping systems and components, basic welding and fit-up, basic machine setup and alignment, rigging and lifting skills.
  • Part fabrication; designing, machining, and fabricating specialty parts for repairs that cannot be typically ordered.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments to perform duties, and work with various material handling devices to transport materials to and from work locations.
  • Attends internal and external training courses required to establish safe maintenance operations.
  • Overhead crane inspection certifications, NFPA Arc Flash, and electrical safety are examples of training required.
  • Effectively communicate within upstream and downstream Team Members to address safety, quality, and efficiency issues/concerns.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, rotating shifts, and scheduled/unscheduled overtime.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Additionally, this role will be responsible for all other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 Year Degree in Industrial Maintenance/ Electrical Technology OR 5 Years of Industrial Maintenance experience.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Multi-craft work history preferred.
  • Knowledge in hydraulic/pneumatic/mechanical design, repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) troubleshooting.
  • Experience in a continuous line manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

  • This is a physical active role which requires lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Range of motion will include squatting, bending, standing, walking and reaching. May be required to enter areas that are near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate and may require the use of hearing protection. Required to utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas, (hard hat, gloves, welding jacket or weld bibs, safety glasses, welding hood and earplugs.)
    Must be willing to work weekends, rotating shifts, scheduled/unscheduled overtime, and oncall support may be required.
