Tata is driving an aggressive modernization and upgradation program, which includes already initiated controls and electrical distribution upgrade project, and several automation projects in the coming years.  This role of Controls Engineer would provide controls and instrumentation capability to the maintenance engineering group, as well as be at the forefront in developing and executing automation projects in line with the Plants growth vision.

Requirements

What are the Key Deliverables in this role?

  • Controls and Instrumentation setup for the bulk material transfer, processing and packaging areas
  • Set PLC, network and programming standard for the plant
  • Accountable for owning and troubleshooting all day to day controls engineering issues in the plant, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, motor controls, and communication networks
  • Ownership of all I/O instrumentation in the plant and systematically evaluating for obsolescence, redundancy and conduct upgrades
  • Ownership of electrical distribution in the plant, and ensuring all regulatory, safety and insurance requirements are met
  • Actively driving the automation agenda for the site
  • Provide technical support and training to technicians

What are the Critical success factors for the Role?

  • Engineering graduate in Controls/Instrumentation/Electrical discipline
  • Experience with RSLogix 5000 software and Wonderware
  • Experienced in Bulk material handling processes, electrical control panel design, as well as MCC/MCP
  • Experience troubleshooting VFDs and motor control circuits.
  • Experienced in development of controls/electrical technical documentation
  • Adept in PLC programming, HMI screen development, Industrial networking, field instruments installation
  • Experienced in creating controls engineering bill of materials (PLCs, HMI, I/O instruments)
  • Experience in preparing engineering drawings (AutoCAD), P&ID, alarms, and work with engineering partners and contractors
  • Proven “hands-on” work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work with 24VDC control systems and 120V/240V/480V electrical systems.
  • Be able to manage themselves and others across geographic, language and cultural differences
  • Managing and developing remote relationships internally and externally
  • Be commercially astute and strategically aware of business drivers in our industry sectors.
