Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Electrical Panel Builder to join our team. The Electrical Panel Builder will be responsible for assembling industrial control panels according to drawings and specifications, managing inventory, and ensuring all wiring, labeling, and components are installed accurately and efficiently. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Panel Assembly

  • Assemble electrical control panel back pans according to electrical drawings, schematics, and bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Install and mount components including:
    • Terminal blocks
    • Fuses and fuse holders
    • Siemens PLCs and associated components
    • DIN rail
    • Panduit/wireways
    • Relays, power supplies, and other control devices
  • Lay out and install components to ensure proper spacing, accessibility, and compliance with design requirements.

Wiring & Labeling

  • Perform point-to-point wiring of electrical control panels according to schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Route and terminate wires neatly within Panduit/wireways.
  • Label all wires, terminals, and components per project documentation.
  • Verify wiring accuracy and perform quality inspections before panel completion.
  • Troubleshoot and correct wiring or assembly discrepancies as needed.

Inventory Management

  • Manage inventory levels of electrical components and shop materials.
  • Pull and stage materials for active projects.
  • Track inventory usage and report shortages or discrepancies.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and stocking incoming materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper storage of components.

Quality & Safety

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Ensure panels are built to company quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Participate in testing and quality control inspections as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience building industrial electrical control panels preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.
  • Experience with Siemens PLC hardware and industrial control components preferred.
  • Familiarity with electrical assembly tools, wire crimpers, cutters, and testing equipment.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a shop environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with UL 508A control panel construction.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.
  • Basic troubleshooting of electrical circuits and control systems.
