Job description

Panel Builder / Control Panel Technician

Adenus Technologies is hiring a Panel Builder / Control Panel Technician to build industrial electrical control panels at our Smyrna, Tennessee facility.

This is a shop-based role focused on fabricating, assembling, wiring, and testing control panels. We are looking for someone with hands-on panel-building experience who can read electrical schematics, follow shop standards, and produce clean, organized, high-quality work.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and wire industrial electrical control panels from schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, and shop standards.
  • Mount and wire common control panel components including wire duct, DIN rail, terminal blocks, breakers, fuses, power supplies, relays, PLC hardware, HMIs, VFDs, transformers, disconnects, and communication devices.
  • Drill, tap, cut, and modify back panels and enclosures as needed.
  • Route, bundle, label, and terminate wiring neatly and consistently.
  • Verify wire labels, terminal labels, component tags, fuse sizes, breaker sizes, wire colors, wire gauges, and component ratings.
  • Install and verify grounding, bonding, jumpers, field terminals, communication cables, and control-power wiring.
  • Build panels in accordance with UL508A requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Perform basic QC checks including pull checks, visual inspections, continuity checks, voltage checks, and first power-up support.
  • Identify and communicate drawing issues, missing materials, incorrect parts, or build concerns.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building and wiring industrial electrical control panels.
  • Ability to read and follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of material.
  • Experience with proper wire routing, labeling, stripping, crimping, ferrules/lugs, and terminal connections.
  • Familiarity with UL508A panel-building practices or experience working in a quality-focused panel shop.
  • Ability to use common panel-shop tools including hand tools, power tools, and multimeters.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to clean, consistent workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with engineering, production, and management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with PLC hardware, HMIs, VFDs, motor starters, relays, power supplies, Ethernet devices, and industrial control components.
  • Experience with panel QC, continuity testing, voltage checks, I/O checkout, or first power-up procedures.
  • Familiarity with SCCR labels, panel nameplates, warning labels, and electrical documentation.
Physical and Work Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work inside control panels for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move tools, materials, and panel components safely.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment with a focus on quality, safety, and consistency.
