Duininck Concrete, headquartered in West Central Minnesota, serves its clients as industry experts, providing guidance and support for projects of any scale.
We are seeking a Quality Control Manager to lead all aspects of the quality department. This person would ensure all concrete products meet industry standards, project specifications, and customer expectations. This role also oversees mix design creation, the submittal process, and compliance with ACI, ASTM, state, and federal regulations.
This role leads a geographically dispersed team.
The role:
  • Lead and develop the internal quality control team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Oversee the design and optimization of concrete mixtures to ensure optimal strength, durability, and cost-efficiency, strictly adhering to ASTM, ACI, and relevant local codes and regulations.
  • Develop and implement rigorous quality control procedures for concrete production and placement, utilizing statistical analysis and performance metrics to monitor and improve processes.
  • Conduct comprehensive field inspections and materials tests, including slump tests, compressive strength tests, and air content measurements, to ensure the highest quality of concrete and its components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to concrete performance, such as shrinkage, cracking, scaling, and other defects, employing advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies.
  • Ensure full compliance with MNDOT quality requirements and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Develop accurate submittal packages, aiding the estimating department with a timely quoting process.
  • Oversee the creation, validation, and cataloging of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to ensure federal and state compliance, promoting sustainability in our concrete production processes.

Skills we look for:
  • Proficient in concrete mix design and analysis, with a deep understanding of the principles of hydration, workability, and performance characteristics.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of articulating technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams and managing complex projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of ACI (American Concrete Institute) standards, ASTM testing methods, and best practices in concrete quality assurance.
  • PE preferred.

Work environment:
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds regularly.
  • Ability to handle loading and unloading of cylinders and other physical activities as required.
  • Available to work on a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends).
  • Local travel required along with occasional overnights.
