Job Title: Quality Control Manager
Location: Des Moines, IA

We are a local, family-owned food and produce distributor that has proudly served the Midwest region for over 130 years. We distribute to 11 different states across our 5 locations. As the Quality Control Manager, you’ll lead our Quality Control team and play a key role in ensuring Loffredo Fresh Foods products consistently meet our high standards for quality, freshness, and accuracy. You’ll work closely with Purchasing, Sales, and Operations to maintain product availability, improve fill rates, minimize inventory shrink, and ensure proper handling of product holds, quarantines, releases, and customer returns. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical leader who takes pride in doing things the right way and enjoys working across departments to solve problems and continuously improve our processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and oversee the Quality Control department and Warehouse QC Coordinators
  • Partner with Purchasing, and Operations to maintain the highest standards of product quality
  • Monitor and support daily fill rates and product availability
  • Develop, implement, and improve quality control procedures and processes
  • Analyze inventory levels and work with Purchasing to minimize shrink and prevent product shortages
  • Oversee product quarantine, hold, and release processes
  • Manage quality processes related to customer returns and product restocking
  • Ensure compliance with established food safety practices and quality standards
  • Identify quality issues, inventory discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, and other business partners
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts that enhance quality, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Take on special projects and other responsibilities as needed
