Main Purpose of Job

The position conducts audits, manage and monitor the P10 budget, and performs other fiscal and administrative related duties as assigned within the Family Investment Administration unit.\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

\r\n\r\n Develop tracking methods for all expenditures and the employment team financial transactions, as well as maintaining a thorough audit trail for customers and vendor payments.\r\n Maintain up-to-date budget record, recommend spending adjustments, and complete plan amendments to ensure all funds are used appropriately and on schedule.\r\n Work closely with the TCA/Employment Team Supervisor and agency fiscal staff.\r\n Provide administrative support, document scanning, and coverage for the job center front desk.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.\r\nNotes: \r\n1. Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. \r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience. \r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:\r\n\r\n One year experience using spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets) \r\n One year experience creating journal entries and bookkeeping \r\n One year experience working with the Maryland Financial Management Information System (FMIS) or other accounting software\r\n\r\n

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Recruitment is limited to candidates willing to work in Calvert County, MD.\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n

BENEFITS

\r\nContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r\n\r\n
