Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a travel Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center in Oshkosh, WI, requiring Epic proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience.

Details
  • Emergency Department at a Level III Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center with 72 total hospital beds and 22 ED beds
  • Patient population ranges from pediatric to geriatric, with a predominantly geriatric focus; common presentations include chest pain, abdominal pain, and falls
  • Pediatric experience is preferred but not required
  • Patient ratio of 1:3–4 for ED RNs
  • 12-hour night shifts (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM), 24 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required (per internal description; some notes indicate every 3rd — confirm with recruiter)
  • Holiday coverage required on an as-needed basis based on staffing
  • No floating required for ED RNs
  • EMR: Epic (required); also uses Alaris and Pyxis pump systems
  • Belmont rapid infuser experience preferred
  • Bedside and nurses' station telemetry monitoring available; no tele tech for ER patients
  • No on-call or call-back responsibilities
Requirements
  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
  • Preferred certifications: CPI/MOAB and ENPC
  • Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • Core ED skills required: peripheral IV starts, blood cultures with proper technique, chest tube management, code blue response, and triage
  • Preferred skills: arterial lines, critical care experience, central line placement, thoracentesis, and charge nurse experience
  • COVID vaccination required
  • One professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the last year
  • Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration
Additional Information
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restrictions apply
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
  • Orientation includes at least one shift to learn unit flow
  • Unit support includes a charge nurse (who occasionally takes patients), 2 CNAs/techs, 1 HUC, a mid-shift paramedic, a unit secretary (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), respiratory therapist (24/7), and mid-level coverage from 8:00 AM–12:00 AM
  • Phlebotomy is available for challenging or time-sensitive draws; primary blood draws are the RN's responsibility
  • Scrub color: any color; denim, camouflage, and logo-printed scrubs are not permitted
  • Free parking available in designated areas
  • Up to 7 days of time off (RTO) may be requested; additional requests require manager approval
