Job description

  1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
    1. To ensure gauges are calibrated to required established industry standards and Calibration Management System (Calibration Recall) is maintained
    2. To achieve established quality standards by verifying incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.
    3. To ensure that customers receive high-quality products that meet Company standards. 
  1. KEY AREAS OF ACTIVITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
    1. Responsible for calibration, routine inspection, maintenance and repair of instruments, and test equipment to meet established industry standards. Tests and measures accuracy of instruments used in production.
    2. Performs daily verification of calibration status of gauges on the floor and in the Calibration Management System and recalls gauges as needed.
    3. Coordinates with 3rd party calibration lab for any gauges needing external calibration
    4. Performs complex inspections and sets quality standards for in-process production of Steel and Plastics, and communicates required adjustments to the Production Supervisor, to ensure the achievement of targets with respect to quality. 
    5. Follows established procedures and guidelines for checking, testing, and inspecting incoming raw materials, factored goods and rejects and returns all undesirable goods for Steel and Plastics.
    6. Conducts audits of finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning failed products for rework, and evaluating rework, to follow the norms and standards of quality as defined by the Company.
    7. Documents inspection results by completing reports, logs and/or discrepancy material reports, summarizing rework and waste/scrap, and inputting data into the quality database.
    8. Acts as a representative for Calibration portion during internal, and external audits.
    9. Responsible for trouble shooting lab equipment failures and coordinating with maintenance department for complex repairs
    10. Performs sample preparation of products using surface grinder, cutting, mounting, polishing, microscopy
    11. Performs mechanical testing of products (Hardness, Fatigue, Tensile, Magnetic Particle Inspection)
    12. Orders parts needed for lab equipment consumables as needed.
    13. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations. 
    14. Performs all other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.

  3. SKILLS NEEDED
    1. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with Calibration and expert in trouble shooting of different types Gauges (Height Gauges, Calipers, Micrometers, Angle Gauges, Feeler gauges).
    2. Expert in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers,  height gauges, angle gauges, radius gauges, etc.
    3. In Depth understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
    4. In Depth understanding of Calibration Management Software, Traceability of Gauges and Quality Management System.
    5. Knowledge of Surface Grinding, Sample Cutting, Sample Polishing, Microscopy, Hardness testing, Tensile Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing (Preferred).
    6. MUST be mechanically inclined and be willing to trouble shoot lab equipment and perform repair when needed.
    7. Willingness to use new tools, equipment, and computer programs.
    8. High school diploma or GED.
    9. Self-starter that is able to work in an independent manner or with self directed work teams.
    10. Able to read drawings, analyze information, and record findings.
      1.             Proficient in MS Office Suite like Excel, Word, Outlook.
        1. Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.
        2. Excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills.

Primary measures of successful performance will be: 

  1. Maintain Calibration Management Software and perform calibrations and verifications ACCURATELY
  2. Ensure high quality of products being distributed to customers.
  3. Meet requirements of internal, external audit schedule for calibration.
  4. Receive zero notices of violation or administrative consent orders regarding environmental, legal, and regulatory requirements.
