Project Overview:
Craig Technologies is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Bechtel and Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Craig Technologies's scope of service in Sentinel's current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.
A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Craig Technologies has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary:
In this role as Senior Structural Tekla Designer, you will support the structural design for the project. This will entail originating/checking complex structural designs of concrete or steel. Additionally, review and coordination of vendor information and leading technical discussions and constructability reviews. #LI-SF1
Major Responsibilities:
Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of steel, concrete, reinforcing steel, cold-formed steel, anchor bolts, and steel and reinforcing steel detailing
Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work with engineers
Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators)
Coordinates assigned structural design work with other project groups
Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
Ensures structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards
Mentors structural designers by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
Development of concrete and steel structural design and drawings, including seismic detailing.
Review existing conditions and as-builts drawings.
Review customer & vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.
Prepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures
Proficient in the use of TEKLA software, and detailing steel and reinforced concrete in TEKLA
Thorough knowledge and application of the Detailing for Steel Construction, ACI Detailing Manual SPI-66, and Building Information Modeling.
Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and of construction methods for concrete and steel structures
Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally
Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively
Broad knowledge of the application of structural engineering design principles
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess active security clearance
Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense
Prior experience with United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Computed-Aided Design (CAD) Standard ERDC/ITL TR-19-7
Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide
The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $155,000; however, Craig Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
