Cybersecurity Systems Engineer (ServiceNow/Cloud)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Systems Engineer (ServiceNow/Cloud) to provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering support for enterprise ServiceNow, cloud infrastructure, systems integration, and database environments supporting mission-critical operations.
The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer will serve as a primary technical resource for the ServiceNow (SNOW) platform, with responsibility for platform administration, development, upgrades, integrations, and continuous improvement. The position will also support AWS cloud resources, Linux systems, databases, APIs, identity management, and CI/CD pipelines.
The ideal candidate combines ServiceNow development and administration, systems engineering, cloud architecture, and automation expertise with the ability to develop secure, scalable solutions in a highly controlled environment. Experience applying emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities to application development and workflow automation is highly desired.


Key Responsibilities
ServiceNow Administration & Development
  • Administer, configure, maintain, and optimize the enterprise ServiceNow platform.
  • Perform ServiceNow application administration and implement required patches, updates, and critical system changes.
  • Plan and execute annual ServiceNow platform upgrades.
  • Configure and customize ServiceNow functionality to meet evolving customer and mission requirements.
  • Develop custom ServiceNow applications, business logic, workflows, scripts, and integrations using JavaScript.
  • Troubleshoot ServiceNow performance, functionality, configuration, and integration issues.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve ServiceNow workflows.


Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineering
  • Perform Linux operating system administration, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Support and administer AWS cloud environments and associated services.
  • Develop, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain AWS Lambda functions.
  • Configure and support Amazon API Gateway and associated integrations.
  • Engineer scalable and secure cloud-based solutions supporting enterprise applications.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, connectivity, and cloud-service issues across integrated environments.


Database Administration
  • Administer and maintain MariaDB database environments hosted within Amazon RDS.
  • Monitor database availability, performance, connectivity, security, and reliability.
  • Support database configuration, maintenance, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ensure application and ServiceNow integrations can securely and reliably access required data.


System Integration & Identity Management
  • Design, build, maintain, and troubleshoot APIs connecting ServiceNow and other enterprise applications.
  • Integrate ServiceNow with third-party tools, internal databases, and cloud resources.
  • Support LDAP configuration and administration for secure enterprise authentication and identity management.
  • Troubleshoot authentication, authorization, API, and system-to-system integration issues.
  • Apply secure engineering practices to protect sensitive data exchanged between interconnected systems.


CI/CD & Deployment
  • Understand, support, and navigate Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Support automated application build, testing, integration, and deployment processes.
  • Coordinate application and configuration releases across development, test, staging, and production environments as applicable.
  • Assist with troubleshooting deployment failures and configuration issues.


AI Integration & Automation
  • Apply AI fundamentals to accelerate application development, scripting, automation, and technical problem-solving.
  • Evaluate opportunities to incorporate AI capabilities into ServiceNow applications and workflows.
  • Develop or integrate AI-enabled functions that reduce repetitive manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support responsible implementation of emerging AI capabilities within applicable customer cybersecurity and information-assurance requirements.


Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current CI Polygraph.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise IT systems in secure or mission-critical environments.
  • Experience with ServiceNow administration, development, configuration, or integration.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating system administration.
  • Experience supporting AWS cloud environments.
  • Experience developing or supporting system integrations and APIs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues spanning applications, infrastructure, databases, and cloud services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams, customers, cybersecurity personnel, and other stakeholders.


Desired Qualifications
  • Proven experience serving as a ServiceNow Developer and/or ServiceNow Administrator.
  • Advanced ServiceNow platform configuration and customization experience.
  • Strong Linux system administration skills.
  • Experience designing, deploying, or supporting AWS cloud architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway.
  • Proficiency with JavaScript, particularly within ServiceNow.
  • Experience administering MariaDB databases.
  • Experience with Amazon RDS.
  • Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting REST APIs or other system integrations.
  • Experience configuring or administering LDAP and enterprise identity-management solutions.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD methodologies, pipelines, and automated software deployment.
  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise applications or ServiceNow workflows.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity controls and secure engineering practices applicable to classified environments.


Preferred Certifications
One or more of the following certifications is desirable:
