Overview:
Job Title: Data Migration & AI Transformation Engineer
Company: R2 Technologies
Location: Alpharetta, GA (Hybrid / Remote Options Available)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contractual
About R2 Technologies: R2 Technologies is a Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) headquartered in Alpharetta, GA. With over two decades of experience across global markets, we have built a reputation as a trusted partner for IT staffing excellence and cutting-edge digital product innovation. We are driven by innovation and operate on a simple philosophy: "We deliver what we promise, and we promise only what we can deliver." Beyond providing top-tier IT talent, R2 builds cutting-edge proprietary solutions like SmartEnt-an Enterprise AI & IoT Intelligence Platform utilizing advanced NLP and AI technologies. By partnering closely with our clients, we deliver technology-driven outcomes that are realistic, measurable, and impactful.
Job Summary: You cannot build an enterprise AI agent if the data is trapped in an outdated, siloed database. R2 Technologies is looking for a Data Migration & AI Transformation Engineer to untangle legacy data schemas and migrate them to modern cloud environments. Utilizing AI-assisted data tools, you will transform historical enterprise data into modern formats (like Iceberg) and build the embedding pipelines necessary to make that data searchable and usable by Generative AI and our SmartEnt platform.
Key Responsibilities: * Design and execute the migration of data from legacy on-premise databases (e.g., older Oracle, DB2, SQL Server) to modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
  • Utilize AI coding assistants to rapidly generate and optimize complex ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformation scripts, and schema translations.
  • Build and manage data embedding pipelines to vectorize historical enterprise data, loading it into Vector Databases (Pinecone, Qdrant) for AI consumption.
  • Implement modern open table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake) to future-proof data storage for advanced analytics and machine learning.
  • Prompt LLMs to analyze undocumented legacy database schemas, reverse-engineer data relationships, and automatically generate data dictionaries.
  • Ensure migrated data adheres to strict enterprise data governance, quality, and compliance standards.

Qualifications: * Up to 3 years of experience in Data Engineering, Database Administration, or Cloud Data Migration.
  • Strong proficiency in advanced SQL and Python for data manipulation.
  • Experience with legacy relational databases and modern cloud data warehouses.
  • Proven experience utilizing AI coding assistants to automate data pipeline generation and schema mapping.
  • Familiarity with text embedding concepts and Vector Database integration.

Understanding of modern data lakehouse architectures and data governance principles.
Skills:
Oracle,SQL Server,Snowflake
